Pedro Pascal (often pronounced [xo?se ?peð?o ?alma?seða pas?kal] in Spanish; born on April 2, 1975) is a well-known Chilean and American actor. After spending almost two decades in minor roles in theater and on TV, Pascal had his breakout role as Prince Oberyn Martell in the fourth installment of the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (in 2014). He further rose to fame by playing his role as Javier Peña in the Netflix crime drama *Narcos* (between 2015 and 2017). Pascal subsequently appeared in the films *The Great Wall* (2016), *Kingsman: The Golden Circle* (released in 2017), *The Equalizer 2* (in 2018), and *Triple Frontier* (2019).
His starring roles as Din Djarin, also known as "The Mandalorian," in the Disney+ sci-fi show *The Mandalorian* (2019–present) and the character Joel Miller in the HBO post-apocalyptic drama *The Last of Us* (from 2023 onward) led to his global fame, and earned him a reputation for portraying fatherly figures. In *The Last of Us*, he won several accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe nomination. He extended his roles as parental figures in the films *We Can Be Heroes* (released in 2020), *Strange Way of Life* (2023), and as Fink the fox in *The Wild Robot* (scheduled for 2024). Pascal has also starred in high-budget movies such as *Wonder Woman 1984* (2020) and *Gladiator II* (set to release in 2024).
Active in theatre since 1999, he debuted on Broadway as Edmund in a 2019 adaptation of King Lear. He was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2023.
